About Us

Our History

In February 1981, 52 people met in the home of Bill and Thelma Pingry with a desire to reach their community with the gospel message of Jesus Christ. After a month of meeting in their home and holding services in the Old Stone Church, they called Glenn Layton to be their first Pastor. It was then they charted the name Victory Baptist Church.

Following their charter service they began meeting in the J C Penny building at 565 Main St. After three years they were able to purchase a building and continue to grow.

The second Pastor was Stephen Skea who pastored from Oct 1987 to September 1989. After Pastor Skea stepped down the church asked Larry Osborne to be their next Pastor in February of 1990. With this change came the vision of needing a larger building. In the mid-1990s the church purchased “Trojan Lanes” and converted it into what we now know and love as Victory Baptist Church.

February of 2013 Tim Lewallen was called to be the Assistant Pastor of Victory Baptist Church. Following the retirement of Pastor Larry Osborne in early 2015, the church called Pastor Lewallen to be Senior Pastor.
